Two townships coming-up in the outskirts of Silchar

Planning is on to construct two sophisticated townships on the outskirts of Silchar. Renowned builder of West Bengal, Harshvardhan Neotiya is the main man behind this township. Two non-yielding tea-estates have been selected by Neotiya, which are Arunaband Tea Estate near Udarband and Chenkuri Tea Estate.

Silchar: 12 Feb: After alleged acts of vandalism by All Cachar-Karimganj-Hailakandi Students’ Association (ACKHSA) in the Assam University Campus a few days back, life came to a standstill in the University. The Non-Teaching Association of the University went for a pen down strike demanding the immediate arrest and implementation of punitve measures against the president and general secretary of ACKHSA, Rupam Nandi Purkayastha and Biplab Choudhury respectively.

Silchar in the grip of severe load shedding

Silchar: 11 Feb: Load-shedding has become a chronic disease of not only Silchar but Barak Valley as a whole. Neglected always, this southern part of Assam is treated by the Governement at Dispur probably as an appendage. Several round of official talks, movements have all proved to be futile. Moreover, this being the season of examinations, the students are the worst sufferers.
