Regional Masterplan for road development to be formulated

Silchar: 11 Feb: After the 2nd sectoral summit of the North Eastern Council took place at Shillong to review the road sector in the North Eastern Region, a 10-point Shillong Declaration was adopted. As per this 10-point Declaration, all the states of this region were required to address issues relating to security, forest, land acquisition and encroachment to develop roads in the region as an ‘indispensable requirement.’

Badarpur Trembled by Two Bomb Blasts

AUDF, a bone in the neck of CM Tarun Gogoi

Silchar, 15 January: The newly formed regional political party Assam United Democratic Front (AUDF) is appearing be a bone in the neck of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi AUDF was formed in the wake of the Supreme Court annulling the IMDT Act. The annulment of this Act made the Muslims of Assam lose their faith in the Congress party and the look out for an opportunity to form an alternative political forum. Thus was born the AUDF under the leadership of Moulana Badar Uddin Ajmal just prior to the Assembly elections of 2006.
